CCGG Hosts 2022 AGM and Public Meeting

A replay of the webinar is available here.

On June 8, 2022, CCGG hosted our first hybrid AGM and Public Meeting – our first in-person gathering since 2020. As we reflected on the impacts of CCGG over the past year, we welcomed new members and marked a transition in board leadership.

After four impactful years, Marcia Moffat, BlackRock’s Country Head for Canada, stepped down as Chair of CCGG and assumed the role of Vice-Chair. Marcia has championed great progress for CCGG, and we would like to thank her for the passion and vision she brought to CCGG since assuming the role in 2018. Marcia’s leadership led to significant positive impacts for the Canadian investment community, including in the areas of increased board diversity, board oversight of material environmental and social risks, the improvement of executive compensation disclosure and majority voting.

Assuming the mantle of Chair is Bruce Cooper, CEO of TD Asset Management Inc. We are very excited for Bruce to continue the momentum we have built over the past four years. We also welcomed three new board members: Dawn Jia, President and CEO of UBC Investment Management Trust (IMANT), Mary Throop, Partner at Summerhill Capital Management and Eduard van Gelderen, Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of PSP Investments.

Two of our longest serving Board members retired from the board following the 2022 AGM. We would like to thank Kim Shannon, President and Co-CIO of Sionna Investment Managers Inc. and John Sinclair, President and CEO of Vestcor, for their long-standing commitment to CCGG and for the wisdom and guidance they have shown to our whole team during their time on the Board.

We would also like to thank our speaker and renowned pioneer of modern corporate governance, Jon Lukomnik, for leading a discussion on beta stewardship and the evolution of corporate governance.
