Dual class shares debate & CCGG Governance Gavel Awards reception

On February 27th, 2020, CCGG hosted Professor David Beatty, Academic Director of the David and Sharon Johnston Centre for Corporate Governance Innovation at the Rotman School of Management and Ken Bertsch, Executive Director of the Council of Institutional Investors in a dual class shares debate.  The debate was moderated by CCGG Executive Director, Catherine McCall.

At the reception following the dual class shares debate, CCGG announced the following two recipients of our 2019 Governance Gavel Awards which recognize excellence in shareholder communications by issuers through their annual proxy circulars:

  • Capital Power
  • Pembina Pipeline

Board members, Jill Gardiner and Katharine Stevenson, along with SVP, Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer, Kate Chisholm, attended the event to receive Capital Power’s award.
